Keepin' the ads rollin'!

SOMEONE SAW ME AND IT WAS BOSS

The Vintage Space Toaster Palace got noticed last week by one of the bigger toy robots message boards and one of the guys is all WHERE IS THE WHEELED WARRIORS LOL. I immediately stopped everything and made a section for all the Wheeled Warriors ads I've had laying around for a while. There is no greater motivation than someone LOLing at me.

Dude, I'm not running some kind of friggin' space toys hall of fame here. If I was I sure as hell wouldn't have sections for Zybots or Galactic Man. If you like Star Wars ads go check out the 200 tryptzillion other sites with catalog and wishbook scans you robodork!

Wheeled Warriors doesn't involve robots, right? Or am I missing something?

Well part of the reason I named the site what I did was because of something Flint Dille said during the commentary track on the Sony 2 disc DVD of Transformers The Movie. He was talking about how TMNT was a direct response to what parents found too violent about Transformers and he explains, "We used to call them generically 'toasters' and 'squishies'. Toasters were robotic shows where the toaster suddenly came to life and squishies were any girl property or really soft weiner property that we liked to make fun of. But yeah, Transformers was the pinnacle of a toaster show. It never got more toastery after this."

When I think about including a toyline's ads in the VSTP I try to imagine how toastery either the toys or the show were, and Wheeled Warriors despite not having robots is very toastery. Star Wars where the focus is more on the humanoid squishy action figures is not, but Battlestar Galactica the toyline was all about the robotty looking Cylons and spaceships from both sides so it makes it. Bottom line is I try to evaluate each property independently based on toasteryness and not necessarily robotyness.

Ahhhh thank you for clearing that up. Now I'm wondering how a lot of boys toy lines would rank from the 80s....
